Collaboratic

As a Society and as Citizens,

How Might We Talk to Each Other

More Effectively About Public Problems?

November 2023

Collaboratic is a methodology for citizens who want to address public problems together. It is intended to streamline the collaborative problem-solving process so that a group can better focus on crafting effective solutions.

The name Collaboratic is combined from the words Collaborate and Systematic because it offers an orderly and methodical approach for addressing issues together.

Collaboratic is comprised of two components: A framework for a different way of thinking about problems coupled with an agenda for a different way of talking about them. Both components are based on a redefined notion of a problem. This framework serves as the core for formulating a problem and structuring a deliberative agenda which, together, are intended to guide discussions toward effective solutions.

Collaboratic offers no specific solutions and is not limited to any specific topic. Instead is a generalized approach, applicable to many problems. Collaboratic does not guarantee that discussions will be easy: Some problems require hard thinking and perhaps difficult choices. However, Collaboratic may help declutter the deliberative landscape to make it easier to focus and make those difficult choices clearer.

Think of Collaboratic as another tool for civic engagement. It is a work in progress and its methodology requires further exploration, testing and development. Development will initially involve a few small groups and expand from there, learning and adapting along the way.

This website is intended to support the Collaboratic’s development. It offers a brief introduction and examples to illustrate Collaboratic. The About page offers a brief history and an email link.

More will be added to this website as progress is made.
